OKLAHOMA CITY-
The brother of a University of Oklahoma student who blew himself up on campus has been ordered to stand trial for allegedly threatening FBI agents in Colorado.
U.S. District Judge Robert Blackburn on Friday set a four-day trial beginning June 25 for Thomas Hinrichs, brother of Joel Hinrichs III, 21.
Joel Hinrichs died after a bomb he assembled and placed in a backpack detonated Oct. 1, 2005, near a crowded Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, where the Sooners were playing.
Thomas Hinrichs, 25, of Colorado Springs, was charged late last year with threatening two FBI agents in that city in October and November. The FBI had investigated Thomas Hinrichs as part of a broad probe of what was involved in his brother’s death.
Thomas Hinrichs also is awaiting trial in state court in Colorado Springs for allegedly assaulting his father, Joel Hinrichs Jr., of Colorado Springs, on Nov. 15.
Thomas Hinrichs had a rifle, two boxes of ammunition and a military helmet when they arrested him, police said.
