COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-
Even though he is gone, Bill Fish’s search for his missing son will continue.
Fish formed a trust before his death Saturday that will fund the search for Gene Fish, 56, who disappeared nearly three years ago.
“I know Bill wanted the case to go on in the event that he passed away,” said Dave Spencer, a retired Colorado Springs Police Department homicide detective hired by Fish to find out what happened to his son, who hasn’t used his passport or his $4,000 monthly pension since disappearing. The former Nuclear Regulatory Commission agent vanished from his home June 21, 2004, in Fremont County.
“He made arrangements for all this, believe me. He was a remarkable man,” Spencer told the Gazette.
Spencer had planned to meet with Bill Fish, who was 90, on June 1.
“I intend to do that even though Bill passed away,” he said. “I’m meeting with his trustees when I get out there. It’s just so sad that he died before he could bury his son.”
