WINDSOR, Colo.-
Colorado Academy’s Elizabeth Kresock shot a 3-over par 74 to take the first round lead at Colorado Class 4A Golf Tournament held at the Par-71, 5,921-yard Highland Meadows Golf Course Monday.
Kresock made only one birdie. She made a 30-foot birdie on the 14th hole.
“I played conservative and I played smart,” Kresock said. “And I kept the ball in the fairway.
Mullen High School’s Maggie Boberg was a shot behind at 75.
“It took me awhile to get my game going,” Boberg said.
Swirling winds along the entire front nine kept Boberg’s score at 6-over.
The Princeton-bound golfer drained a 30-foot birdie on No. 12. She bogeyed No. 13, but had birdies on No. 15 and 16 to complete the back side at 2-under.
Windsor and Colorado Academy had 255 to share first place in the team competition. Evergreen was third at 261.
Play was delayed late in the round due to lightning in the area.
