COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-
A cyclist from Bethel Park, Pa., has received a two-year period of ineligibility after sample taken at a race last year tested positive for metabolites of testosterone or its precursors, the United States Anti-Doping Agency announced Friday.
Joseph Papp, 32, also admitted using other doping substances, USADA said. The agency did not specify which other substances Papp admitted using, but said the positive sample along with the admission are considered one violation.
Papp provided the sample May 7, 2006 at the International 42nd Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey. His case had gone to arbitration before the American Arbitration Association/Court of Arbitration for Sport before he accepted the sanction on May 17.
Papp’s two year period of ineligibility begins on July 31, 2006 and ends next year.
