DENVER-
Frontier Airlines is waiting for federal approval before it can begin rolling out a new regional turboprop service.
The Denver-based carrier is targeting nine mid-sized cities with its new Lynx Aviation service. The airline hopes to disclose the identities of the cities soon with plans to start service in early September, but the plans are contingent on federal approval, spokesman Joe Hodas said Wednesday.
The airline chose the initial destinations from proposals submitted by 62 cities ranging from Aspen and Vail to spots in North Dakota and South Dakota.
The destinations include four mountain resorts and five non-mountain cities, but Frontier officials declined to release more details pending federal approval.
