FORT CARSON, Colo.—A soldier named Wayne Rambo was arrested in Goodland, Kan., in an allegedly stolen Humvee while absent without leave from this mountain post.

The soldier, a private, was picked up by military police following his arrest, Sheriff Kevin Butts of western Kansas’ Sherman County, said Thursday.

Rambo was initially stopped near Burlington, Colo., on Tuesday afternoon by a sheriff’s deputy but said he was using the vehicle, which was pulling a trailer, with permission. The Kit Carson County deputy notified Fort Carson and the city of Goodland, 30 miles to the east.

Army commanders, who did not return a call seeking comment, notified Goodland police, who stopped Rambo and arrested him.

Rambo is the last name of a macho soldier played by “Rocky” star Sylvester Stallone, who uses military tactics and violence to right wrongs in three popular movies, “First Blood,” Rambo: First Blood Part II,” and “Rambo III.”
