The San Francisco Dragons of Major League Lacrosse went on a 5-0 run to start the second half and cruised to a 20-14 victory Saturday over the visiting Denver Outlaws at Kezar Stadium.
The Dragons (2-3), who moved into a tie with the Outlaws (2-3) for second place in the Western Conference, outscored Denver 14-6 in the second half. Denver led at intermission 8-6.
But Ryan Powell’s two goals 54 seconds apart in the third quarter gave the Dragons an 11-8 advantage. Only Brian Langtry’s unassisted power-play goal at 6:06 of the third broke the Dragons’ run. San Francisco responded with two more unanswered goals.
Matt Alrich scored a game-high six points to lead the Dragons.
Denver’s Matt Brown scored a team-high five goals, Josh Sims added three goals and Drew Westervelt had a Denver-high three assists.
