For the third time in a week, temperatures in Denver have reached record-breaking highs, hitting 100 degrees today.
The previous record for June 24 was 99 degrees set in 1988.
But this type of weather isn’t unusual, said National Weather Service meteorologist Jim Kalina. “Typically the end of June is a pretty hot and dry time,” he said.
The triple-digit temperature was also the first 100-degree day of the year and the first since July 19, 2006.
Another scorcher is expected Monday as the mercury is forecasting a high of 96 in the city.
But, there is relief from the heat in sight; a weak cold front should cool Denver down into the 80s beginning Tuesday.
