Aspen – Don’t expect Elvis impersonators or wedding singers, but the cash- strapped Forest Service will allow weddings this summer in the amphitheater in the Maroon Bells Wilderness.
For $150, a couple can rent the small amphitheater in the wilderness area for two hours, maximum capacity 100.
No post-wedding receptions allowed, the Aspen Daily Times reported.
“We’re not turning into Las Vegas, believe me,” said Martha Moran, recreation manager for the Aspen-Sopris Ranger District.
The permit allows just five vehicles. All others have to pay $10 each to enter, or users can hire a shuttle company.
Five weddings have already occurred.
