ARVADA, Colo.—Two pit bulls were at an animal shelter Wednesday awaiting their fate after police said they roamed the streets, biting three people and puppy.

Police twice used a Taser to subdue the animals, which may have gotten out through an open door Wednesday morning, Arvada police spokeswoman Susan Medina said. The owner was not home.

An animal control officer responding to a report of a person being bit saw the dogs running through the streets and immediately called for assistance.

A man and an animal control officer sustained minor injuries, while a woman was treated at a hospital and released. A puppy bit while being walked was taken to a veterinary office, where its condition was unknown.

It was unclear which dog bit which victim.

“It’s going to take a little while to sort it out,” Medina said.

The dogs were at Table Mountain Animal Center awaiting a judge’s decision.
