Getting your player ready...

As the Rockies work the phones in an attempt to upgrade their bullpen, they were provided a reminder of why their everyday lineup appears set. Matt Holliday was named the National League’s Player of the Week today.

Following a brief slump in the first days after he appeared in the All-Star Game, Holliday caught fire in the last homestand, hitting four home runs and helping lead the Rockies to within 3 ½ games of first-place in the National League West.

Holliday, who has eight hits in his last 22 at-bats, leads the Rockies with 20 home runs and 84 RBIs. Earlier this season, Brad Hawpe won the honor as well.
