Marie Godla graduated from Rock Canyon High School in Highlands Ranch in May. She was a National Merit Finalist and was ranked No. 1 in her class with a 4.0 grade-point average.
Marie took 11 Advanced Placement courses, including calculus, chemistry, micro- and macroeconomics, and Spanish. She also completed online classes in calculus C and multivariable differential calculus through the Education Program for Gifted Youth at Stanford University.
Marie was president of the National Honor Society and was involved with the school mentoring program, Canyon Connections.
She lettered in swimming and track and joined the gymnastics team in her senior year.
Marie has played the piano for 11 years and the oboe for seven. She attended Rocky Ridge Music Center during summers and for the past three years was a member of the Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Marie plans to attend Harvey Mudd College in California and major in engineering. She wants to become a biomedical engineer focusing on the repair of damaged cardiac tissue.
