BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder police are stepping up patrols as thousands of students prepare to return for classes next week.
KMGH TV said police will be going door-to-door next week to hand out information on safety, including drinking laws, noise ordinances and other issues.
Patrols will be tripled in hot spots, including the University Hill area. Many students live in the area or go there to bars and restaurants. Twenty to 30 officers will be assigned to the hill.
Sergeant Lori Wegscheider, who supervises the hill area, the idea is to make police as visible as possible to avoid problems before they escalate.
