VAIL, Colo.—Colorado transportation officials are delaying a study of widening Vail Pass with passing lanes.

The Vail Daily said the study will wait until a larger study on how to reduce congestion between Denver and Glenwood Springs is finished.

Spokesman Peter Kozinski said officials want to make driving over Vail Pass, where slow-moving trucks can delay traffic on the two-lane road, but don’t want to do anything that will conflict with an overall solution to the I-70 congestion problem.

The Vail Pass study will also examine ways to keep the sand used to keep the road from freezing out of Black Gore Creek.
