Interstate 25 was shut down for about an hour Friday night after a man leaped from a moving vehicle during an argument with a woman.

The incident happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. near Colfax Avenue. Denver police spokesman John White said the pair was traveling south on I-25 when they got into an argument. The man asked the woman to pull the car over, but the woman refused.

So, White said, the man jumped from the car. White said the man suffered only scrapes and bruises as the result of his leap, escaping more serious injuries.

Police shut down southbound I-25 starting at Speer Boulevard while they investigated the incident. Traffic backed up past several exits. The highway reopened fully in about an hour.
