A prisoner was recaptured by Lakewood police after she escaped from a transport vehicle and fled in a stolen pickup truck, which she later rolled over, according to the Wheat Ridge Police Department.

Two court marshals were transporting Carissa M. Gutierrez, 32, from the Adams County Jail to the Jefferson County Jail on a Wheat Ridge arrest warrant Friday afternoon when she escaped at 6th and Colfax avenues in Golden.

She fled to the parking lot of a lawn care company, where she found the truck with the keys inside. She was handcuffed at the time, but was not wearing ankle restraints because she told the officers she was pregnant, according to police.

Gutierrez rolled the truck trying to exit eastbound 6th Avenue at Garrison Street. Lakewood police took her into custody a few blocks from the accident scene.

She was treated and released at St. Anthony Central Hospital and faces several charges that include vehicle theft and reckless driving.
