Laramie, Wyo. — Wynel Seldon rushed for two fourth-quarter touchdowns today, and Wyoming’s defense held Utah State to 0-for-13 on third downs as the Cowboys beat the Aggies 32-18.
The win marks the best start for Wyoming (2-0) under fifth-year coach Joe Glenn. The Cowboys play next week at No. 22 Boise State.
Seldon and Devin Moore both finished with 85 yards rushing for the Cowboys. UW quarterback Karsten Sween completed 19-of-32 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown.
However, Sween also had two interceptions in the third quarter on consecutive possessions that led to Utah State scores, allowing the Aggies to gain an 18-14 lead.
Aggies linebacker Devon Hall returned the first interception, which bounced off the hands of a Wyoming receiver, 38 yards for a touchdown. The second interception, by cornerback Marquise Charles on an overthrown ball, set up a 16-yard TD pass from Leon Jackson to Kevin Robinson.
After the Cowboys pulled within a point on a field goal, Seldon put Wyoming back on top with a 1-yard TD run at the 6:54 mark of the fourth quarter and sealed the victory with another 1-yard score with 1:44 left.
Utah State (0-2) lost its eighth straight road game. Jackson led the Aggies with 147 passing yards and the one touchdown.
