A tractor-trailer jackknifed and rolled on Rabbit Ears Pass east of Steamboat Springs late Sunday, killing a passenger in the truck.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. Sunday. The truck’s driver, Sanford Harp of Colorado Springs, lost control of the rig in a right-hand turn. The tractor-trailer jackknifed into the oncoming lanes and then rolled off the road before catching fire.

Harp’s wife, Tracie Mckeithen-Harp, died in the wreck, the Colorado State Patrol said. Harp was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. Authorities cited Harp for careless driving resulting in death.
