Eagle — The Eagle County Sheriff’s Department says a 57-year-old Westminster man has died while hunting in the Holy Cross Wilderness.
Mike Castillo Junior’s cause of death hasn’t been released. An investigation is under way.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sara Cross says Castillo’s son found him Sunday night more than two hours after he failed to arrive at their designated meeting point.
Cross says the son tried to revive Castillo with CPR but could not. He had to leave the area on horseback to find a place where he could call for help on his cell phone.
Castillo, his son and grandson had gone on a weekend hunting and camping trip.
