Colorado Rockies right-hander Aaron Cook, the team’s opening-day starter, was transferred to the 60-day disabled list today.
Cook was originally placed on the disabled list Aug. 16, retroactive to Aug. 11, with a strained left oblique muscle. He suffered a recurrence of the injury while making a rehab start on Sept. 1 for Triple-A Colorado Springs at Tacoma.
The Rockies filled Cook’s spot on the 40-man roster by purchasing the contract of outfielder Seth Smith from Colorado Springs. Smith hit .317 with 17 home runs and 82 RBIs in 129 games with the minor league team this season.
Smith was with the Rockies for today’s game with Florida.
