Boulder — The University of Colorado suspended sophomore linebacker Michael Sipili on Friday for the rest of the fall semester for violating the student code of conduct.

Sipili was originally suspended three games by coach Dan Hawkins, and was eligible to play today against Miami (Ohio) but now will miss the entire season.

Sipili was arrested in August on suspicion of tackling and punching a CU student in a June fight in Boulder.

He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault at a September sentencing hearing in exchange for prosecutors dropping a felony second-degree assault charge.

Sipili will be eligible for readmission for the 2008 spring semester. He still has a redshirt year available.

Sophomore defensive tackle Chris Perri served a three-game suspension for his role in the fight. Perri also was arrested in July after police said he fought with teammate Taj Kaynor. He received a deferred sentence.

Perri was scheduled to play today.
