DENVER—A 3-year-old girl whose mother reported her as a victim of a kidnapping may have been killed, and the mother and her boyfriend have been arrested in the case, police said.
Miriam Gallegos, 20, was being held Saturday on suspicion of charges including being an accessory to a crime. She had reported her daughter, Niveah Gallegos, missing on Friday, police said.
Angel Ray Montoya, 22, was being held on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Investigators were still looking on Saturday for the girl’s body, which they said might have been placed in a plastic bag and dumped in the Capitol Hill neighborhood near downtown.
Police would not release what led them to believe the girl was dead.
