LONGMONT, Colo.—Residents who want a say in whether the city annexes more than 300 acres for a church, housing and businesses say they’ll submit a petition with more than 5,500 signatures Tuesday.
The City Council has approved the annexation of the proposed LifeBridge Church development, but the petition calls for the council to either repeal the action or put it to a citywide vote.
LifeBridge wants to build a 6,000-seat sanctuary, retail space and homes east of the city.
Petition organizers say they’re opposed to the development plans in their current form.
They say the need just over 4,000 valid signatures.
