Authorities believe a North Carolina man who allegedly kidnapped his estranged wife at gunpoint this morning in Colorado Springs may be trying to take the woman back to North Carolina.
Nancy Lorinne Gilley, 48, moved just a week ago from North Carolina to Colorado Springs with her boyfriend, Robert Horn. This morning, she was returning from the store with Horn when she saw her husband, Jerry Gilley, 49, walking toward the place where she was staying, said Lt. Lari Sevene, El Paso County sheriff’s spokeswoman.
“He has got a gun,” Gilley told Horn.
Jerry Gilley ordered Horn to lie down on the ground. He told Nancy Gilley to go inside and pack her clothes, Sevene said.
A witness reportedly heard Gilley say that he intended to take his wife “home.”
“We think that they may be heading back to North Carolina,” Sevene said. “That’s all we have to go on.”
Horn wasn’t injured.
The Gilleys had an “on-again, off-again,” relationship, Sevene said.
The kidnapping occurred in Stratmoor Valley around the B Street area at about 11:45 a.m.
The Gilleys were last seen leaving the area in a gold-colored 2004 Lexus sport-utility vehicle with North Carolina plate RWL8576.
Jerry Gilley, about 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds, has short brown hair and may be wearing khaki pants.
Nancy Gilley, is about 5-foot-6 and 140 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black blouse and sandals.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office at 719-390-5555.
