DENVER—The Colorado Avalanche sent T.J. Hensick and Mark Rycroft to its American Hockey League affiliate in Cleveland on Sunday, leaving 25 players on the preseason roster.
Hensick was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award at the University of Michigan and the center has drawn comparisons to another Michigan native, Mike Modano.
Rycroft appeared in 66 games last year and recorded six goals and six assists. He ranked second among Avalanche forwards with 80 hits.
