Getting your player ready...

While Matt Holliday awaits his fate in the race for National League MVP, the accolades keep rolling in.

The Rockies’ left fielder was named NL player of the month for September. He hit .367, with 12 homers, six doubles, 30 RBIs and a lead-leading slugging percentage of .796.

Holliday enters tonight’s wild-card tie-breaker game as the leader for the batting title and needs two RBIs to overtake Ryan Howard (136) for the RBI title.

Other players receiving votes for player of the month were the Mets’ Moises Alou, the Cubs’ Alfonso Soriano and the Phillies’ Jimmy Rollins, who’s viewed as Holliday’s prime competition for MVP. The award will be announced in November.
