DENVER—One woman is dead after the sport utility vehicle she was driving slammed into a sign board truck and split in two.

The Colorado State Patrol says the woman was driving north on Interstate 25 near Colorado Highway 7 about 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, when she drifted off the left side of the road and hit a Colorado Department of Transportation truck parked in the center median.

Authorities say the woman was killed instantly. Her name has not been released.

The crash closed northbound I-25 for about three hours, but the interstate has since reopened.

No CDOT employees were hurt.
