DENVER—The U.S. Marshals Service says a man wanted for failing to register in Billings, Montana, as a convicted sex offender is in the custody of Colorado authorities. A 16-year-old girl who traveled with him has been returned unharmed to her family.
Dan Orr of the Marshals Service says 40-year-old Matthew Caulk and the girl were taken into custody at a home in Morrison, Colorado. Authorities are investigating whether the girl was coerced into traveling with Caulk.
He was convicted in Washington state about five years ago, for sexual misconduct with a child. Last March, he told parole officials he was moving to Billings.
Authorities had said Caulk was last seen on September 26th, in Colorado.
He was being held on warrants for failing to register as a sex offender.
