DENVER—A man who was questioned in the death of his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter has been arrested on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.

Angel Montoya, 22, was arrested Wednesday at a motel in suburban Wheat Ridge. Police said he had not told authorities of his new address when he moved from his former apartment.

Montoya and Miriam Gallegos, 20, were arrested after Gallegos reported her daughter, Neveah Gallegos, missing on Sept. 21. Police found Neveah’s body three days later.

Montoya and Miriam Gallegos were released on Oct. 1 when prosecutors said they were not ready to file charges.

Details of the conviction that required Montoya to register as a sex offender were not immediately available.
