A tractor-trailer accident has effectively halted eastbound traffic on Interstate-70 near Mother Cabrini Shrine on the long grade below Genesee and Lookout Mountain.
The exact location is mile marker 255.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the semi-truck slid off the road into the median around 7 p.m. and rolled over, spilling hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel. The truck did not catch fire and troopers said they believe there are no serious injuries or deaths.
However, eastbound traffic is stalled all the way back to the Evergreen exit, about four miles. Traffic is slipping around the accident by using one lane which is periodically closed as recovery crews try to right the tractor-trailer and remove it.
Neither the state patrol nor the Colorado Department of Transportation could estimate when the road will be cleared.
