A man was charged with breaking into lockers at the Auraria campus and using the information found inside for identity theft, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Matthew Cooper, 22, was charged Tuesday with two counts of second-degree burglary and two counts of identity theft, according to a news release from the Denver district attorney’s office.
Cooper was also charged with possession of burglary and identity-theft tools, criminal impersonation and theft, the release said.

Ex-funeral director offered plea deal
COLORADO SPRINGS — Prosecutors have offered a plea agreement to a former Colorado Springs funeral director accused of bilking clients of at least $140,000.
Details of the offer to Neva Nolan were not made public during a hearing Tuesday. A judge gave her until Nov. 13 to respond.
The 71-year-old Nolan faces more than 90 criminal charges including theft, theft from at-risk adults and abuse of a corpse.
CU-Boulder opens Veterans Affairs office
BOULDER — The University of Colorado at Boulder opened a new Office of Veterans Affairs this week to accommodate the growing number of college students who are also war veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan, officials said Tuesday.
The office will help students ease into the transition from military to civilian life as a student.
Officials estimate that between 350 and 1,000 students on the 25,000-student Boulder campus are veterans.
CU-Boulder had a Veterans Affairs office during the post-Vietnam War era, but it was discontinued.
Greg Akers, a retired U.S. Marine Corps colonel who is director of the new office, said he wants to lure more veterans to CU-Boulder and offer a veterans support group.
Mom of underweight child in court today
DENVER — A Denver woman charged with child abuse after her 3-year-old daughter was brought to the hospital weighing as little as 19 pounds is scheduled in court today to be advised of the charges, prosecutors said.
Shaunee Hall, 23, was charged Monday with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury after her daughter was taken to Children’s Hospital on Oct. 13 and doctors found signs of neglect, according to a news release from the Denver district attorney’s office and a search-warrant affidavit.
Hall told hospital personnel that her daughter was eating and acting “OK” the day before she was hospitalized, but doctors said that was unlikely, the affidavit said.
The manager of the apartment building at 1245 S. Monaco Parkway, where the family lived, told police he saw people moving out the evening before the girl was brought to the hospital, according to the warrant.
2 suspects sought in cabbie’s slaying
PUEBLO — Pueblo police are hunting for two suspects in connection with the shooting death of a 51-year-old cab driver early Tuesday.
The shooting happened about 1:35 a.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of East 11th Street, Pueblo police said.
Police identified the dead cab driver as 51-year-old David Chance, a driver for City Cab.
In an unrelated incident, Landon Avery, 42, was being held in the death of his 86-year-old mother, Mary L. Avery, whose body was found in front of their home on Monday night.
