COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A teen with a shotgun attacked three people, killing one of them, before apparently killing himself Monday afternoon, police said.

The victims had called police to say another driver was following their SUV and had a shotgun.

Preliminary information indicated the teen gunman rammed the victims’ SUV near an intersection, then got out and shot two males, killing one teen and wounding the other, police and witnesses said.

A woman in the SUV who was not shot ran into a field, but the gunman chased her and repeatedly struck her with the shotgun, police and witnesses said. When an officer approached, the gunman shot and killed himself, witnesses said.

The woman’s wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, police said. The other male in the SUV was in critical condition.

Stephanie Edwards told The Gazette of Colorado Springs she was walking nearby when she heard shots as the two SUVs pulled over. Edwards said she saw the gunman, dressed all in black, shoot two other young men.

“I feel helpless. I just saw two lives taken,” said Edwards, who lives nearby.

The victims may have known the gunman, said police spokesman Lt. Skip Arms. He said the victims may have been trying to get to the Sand Creek police substation, less than a mile away.
