DENVER—Sen. Wayne Allard, R-Colo., says he will support Michael Mukasey’s nomination as attorney general.
Allard pledged his support after meeting with Mukasey Thursday. His decision comes a day after Colorado’s other senator, Democrat Ken Salazar, said he would vote against Mukasey.
Salazar opposes Mukasey’s nomination because of his refusal to denounce waterboarding, an interrogation technique that simulates drowning that some consider torture.
Mukasey is expected to easily win confirmation by the full Senate, but the issue of waterboarding will likely generate significant floor discussion.
