She could have been one of those event chairs who just phone it in, but Roselyn Saunders figured if she was to expect 10 amateur terpsichores to be brave enough to cut a rug at Dancing for the Kids At The Silver Bell Ball, she’d better get with the program herself.
So while Eula Adams, Laura Moore, Joanna Canals, Holly Kylberg, Sean McNicholas, Penny Parker, Stephanie Riggs, Nancy Sevo, Leigh Sullivan-Guard and John David Tynan were rehearsing their moves with the pros from Colorado Dancesport, Roselyn was perfecting her foxtrot with partner Toby Munroe.
“We’re going to do it at the very beginning of the evening, not in the competition,” Roselyn reports. “Just to liven things up.”
While she knew the basics of the dance, fine-tuning it with a pro required a bit of work. “This has not been easy,” she says. “I hurt in places I didn’t know could ache.”
Dancing for the Kids, a benefit for Mount St. Vincent Home, takes place Thursday at the Adam’s Mark Hotel. Roselyn’s co-chairs are Karen Bye and Chris Kelley; Jeannie and Gov. Bill Ritter are the honorary chairmen.
The goal is to raise $1 million.
