DENVER—The Denver Zoo has promoted its executive vice president to president and chief executive officer.
Craig Piper will replace longtime President Clayton Freiheit, who died October 29th after a battle with cancer.
Piper’s promotion was announced Thursday. He has worked for the Denver Zoo for 10 years and has been chief operating officer as well as executive vice president since 2005.
He oversaw the zoo while Freiheit was ill.
Piper previously served as the zoo’s director of education and volunteer services and as vice president for planning and capital projects.
Before joining the Denver Zoo, Piper worked at Zoo Atlanta and was a volunteer and intern at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
