COLORADO SPRINGS — Police were trying to reconstruct where a Fort Carson soldier was before he was found dead with a bullet wound on a sidewalk in a residential area.
A newspaper delivery person found the man’s body just after 5 a.m. Saturday, police said.
Douglas Rule, a spokesman for Fort Carson, confirmed that the victim was a soldier at the post. Police identified him as Kevin Shields, 24, of Colorado Springs.
An autopsy showed he was shot several times, and his death was ruled a homicide.
