Kenwood 2006 Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc, about $10
I know, winter is time for big, warming reds, but I can’t get my mind off whites. I blame Jon Rowley, who runs Taylor Shellfish Farms in Seattle, a heaven for oyster lovers.
Until the New Year, he’s offering two dozen oysters for $29 (six each Totten Inlet Virginicas, Totten Inlet Pacifics, Kumamotos and Olympias, plus an oyster knife, shucking instructions, oyster guide and his book, “Art of Eating an Oyster.”) At that price, I may as well have them for Christmas, New Year’s and next Wednesday’s dinner.
What to drink? Kenwood’s fresh, citrusy sauvignon blanc has won Rowley’s annual Pacific Coast Oyster Wine Competition several times, and at about $10, it leaves more money left over for more oysters. That’s what I call a successful pairing. taylorshellfishfarms.com;
