Expect a snowy morning drive, with up to 4 inches falling in town Friday and another heavy dose of snow for the mountains.

Starting after midnight, snow will begin falling in the metro area, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Kyle Fredin.

Denver will have 1 to 2 inches by morning, with another 1 to 2 inches falling throughout the day.

A snow advisory is in effect from 11 p.m. today to 5 p.m. Friday for the northern and central mountains, with a total of 6 to 10 inches of snow in the forecast, said Fredin.

Overnight lows tonight in Denver should be around 13 degrees, the weather service said.

Friday’s high temperature in Denver will only reach into the low 20s. The low will be much colder, around 5 degrees, with clearing skies.

On Saturday, Denver should be mostly sunny, with high temperatures near 34 degrees.
