A 57-year-old man was taken to a hospital with a hand injury after his house caught on fire early this morning, officials say.

Firefighters were called at 2:40 a.m. and had the fire out within minutes, said Capt. Mark Turley, Aurora fire spokesman.

The blaze started in the garage, which is attached to the home at 3082 S. Helena St., and firefighters were able to extinguish it before it spread to the home, Turley said.

The cause of the fire, which caused about $50,000 in damage, is under investigation.
