United Airlines parent UAL Corp. said its passenger traffic will be down this quarter while unit costs and unit revenue will be up.

United said its flight capacity measured by available seat miles will be down 0.5 percent for the fourth quarter of this year, while traffic measured by revenue passenger miles will be down 1.25 percent to 1.75 percent. United expects its fourth quarter passenger unit revenue to increase 11 percent to 12 percent compared with the year-ago quarter.
