Since only you really know how you like your steak prepared, that’s exactly how it’s done at the anything but ordinary Minturn Country Club.
The low-key steakhouse in disguise is found just around the bend of Main Street’s fabled “mean turn” and is long established as a Vail Valley favorite, attracting locals, visitors and the occasional celeb to gather around the lava rock grill for do-it-yourself flame-broiled steaks for more than 30 years. Sure, the prime Coleman Natural beef (poultry and seafood are available as well), vintage wines, sides and salad bar all add up to indulge your inner epicurean, but it’s the social atmosphere that will keep you coming back for seconds.
Just be sure to save room for dessert. The award-winning Minturn Baked Potato — creatively crafted from cookies and cream ice cream rolled in cocoa powder, smothered in whipped cream, chocolate sauce and toasted almonds — is one of the tastiest around.
Find it: at 131 Main St. in “downtown” Minturn (Exit 171 off I-70). On the web at or on the phone at 970-827-4114.
