A family of eight was put out of their home on Christmas Day when a candle apparently sparked a small blaze, according to the Denver Fire Department.
No one was injured, and the fire at 1505 W. Byers Ave. was extinguished quickly, but the smoke damage made the apartment uninhabitable, said Division Chief Joseph Gonzales.
The American Red Cross found a place for the two adults and six children to stay and replaced some of the damaged Christmas gifts, Gonzales said.
“They’re being well taken care of,” he said.
