VAIL, Colo.—A New York woman has denied threatening a Vail lift operator with an ice pick.
The Eagle County Sheriff’s office filed charges against Elena Adams after the alleged incident Dec. 27.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sara Cross told the Vail Daily that Adams wanted to get in on the wrong side of the Vista Bahn to go down the mountain. Cross said there was an ice pick within reach.
“I just said to the young man, ‘If that shovel would fall down on your head, then, at that time, you would feel the pain that I feel’,” said Adams.
She said that because of a medical condition she suffers from she needed to get on the side normally used by skiers. Adams also said that she fell as a result of the incident, suffering inflammation of the brain.
She is due in court Feb. 20 on a misdemeanor menacing charge.
