You survived the holidays. Now the Cottonwood Institute and REI want to teach you how to survive the rest of the winter.
Whether you’re an experienced winter camper, backcountry skier, snowboarder or snowmobiler, casual snowshoer or simply someone interested in getting outside to explore the winter world, the free winter survival clinics offered at the REI stores in Boulder (Thursday) and Englewood (Jan. 22) could save your life.
The clinics, designed by Denver-based Cottonwood Institute founder Ford Church, feature interactive survival scenarios that teach survival priorities, tips and techniques specific to winter months, including fundamentals such as how to build basic snow shelters and what to include in a winter survival kit.
Do it: Thursday’s clinic (at the REI Boulder Store, 1789 28th St.) begins at 7 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. clinic Jan. 22 at REI’s Englewood Store (9637 E. County Line Road). For more information, log on to or call 303-447-1076.
