Two Texas men have been arrested after they used a ladder to climb up to second- and third-story condominium balconies to steal snowboards and skis, police said.
The brazen thefts happened Wednesday in Breckenridge and an alert victim foiled the cold caper when she spotted her stolen snowboard in the back of a pickup truck, said Kim Green, a police spokeswoman.
The woman and several other people, including theft victims, surrounded the truck and kept it from leaving the parking lot of the Pine Ridge Condominiums until police arrived.
Police arrested brothers Aaron David Fritsch, 22, and Drew Allen Fritsch, 19, both of Del Rio, Texas.
The suspects were in Colorado on a ski vacation, Green said.
They are being held in the Summit County Jail on suspicion of felony theft and criminal trespass. Their bond has been set at $7500 each.
The bed of the pickup truck caught the eye of the victim, in part, because so many snowboards and skis were piled up in it, Green said.
Recovered from the truck were 13 snowboards and three pairs of skis, police said.
