DENVER, Colo.—Wisconsin earned its first road win of the season, scoring three times in the first period and going on to beat Denver 7-2 Saturday.

Denver (17-5-0, 12-4-0 WCHA) scored first when a wide-open Tyler Ruegsegger took a pass from Anthony Maiani and scored his 10th goal of the season.

Just over a minute later, Patrick Johnson tied the game for Wisconsin with his fifth score of the season.

Freshman Podge Turnbull gave the Badgers (9-10-3, 5-8-1) a 2-1 lead eight minutes later. His first shot was saved by Peter Mannino, who fell backward with the puck between his left arm and his waist. Turnbull rushed to the net and swatted the puck in for the score, which was upheld after a referee review.

Two minutes later, Wisconsin freshman Kyle Turris took a pass from Johnson and sent the puck over Mannino’s glove-side shoulder to record his eighth goal of the season.

The Badgers took a 5-1 lead following the second period.

Kyle Ostrow scored Denver’s second goal on a third-period power play.

Turris and fellow freshmen Ryan McDonagh scored for Wisconsin in the final period.
