Metro-area residents can revel in mostly clear skies for the next few days even as snow continues in Colorado’s mountains.
The Denver area will have mostly sunny weather until Tuesday night when there is a 50 percent chance of snow.
The high today is expected to be 44 degrees and temperatures could hit 53 on Tuesday.
On Wednesday there will be a 10 percent chance of snow.
But Jack Frost could reappear with a vengeance next week when an Arctic air mass could come through, said Kyle Fredin, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Boulder.
Temperatures could drop below zero, but Fredin said it is too early to predict how low they will go or when the front will reach us.
“I’m just going to say cold right now,” he said.
After a month of consistent snowstorms throughout the Colorado Rockies, snowpack totals range from about 100 percent of average to 140 percent in the San Juan Mountains in southwest Colorado, Fredin said.
More snow is likely in the mountains throughout the week, Fredin said. “This is typical.”
