Highlights from the Legislature on Thursday:

— The House State, Veterans, & Military Affairs panel approved a measure (House Bill 1155) to give Secretary of State Mike Coffman the ability to retest electronic voting equipment with the help of county election officials. The bill, which lawmakers want to pass quickly, specifies that he cannot relax the standards and must explain any decision to recertify equipment.

— The House voted 59-3 to extend the Prescription Drug Information and Technical Assistance program. The measure (House Bill 1062) allows pharmacists to consult and advise patients and doctors to improve prescription drug care. The program will be expanded to include anyone receiving drug benefits from state welfare programs.

— Require a publisher of college textbooks and supplemental learning materials to post information concerning the price of textbooks, the history of substantive revisions and the estimated length of time the book will be on the market.

— Bar the use of computers to deceive Internet sites to obtain tickets to events after the Colorado Rockies were forced to halt sales of World Series tickets due to a computer attack.

— Make it a crime for a citizen of another country to be in the state in violation of federal immigration law.

— Require the Department of Revenue to allow motorists to register their vehicles every two years.
