Highlights from the Legislature on Friday:

— The House has tentatively approved a bill allowing Secretary of State Mike Coffman to retest and recertify the electronic voting equipment he disqualified last month. The bill (House Bill 1155) faces one more vote before it goes to the Senate.

— The House tentatively approved a measure (House Bill 1048) reducing the size of the state seal after lawmakers learned that no one makes dies that size anymore.

— Presidents of state colleges and universities and the legislative economist briefed state lawmakers on funding for higher education. University of Colorado president Hank Brown said only 11.5 percent of the state budget is set aside for higher education, compared with 13.4 percent before the 2001 recession and 27 percent in 1972.

— A panel of Colorado legislators appointed by House Speaker Andrew Romanoff recommended Friday that state Rep. Douglas Bruce be censured and that he apologize to his colleagues for kicking a newspaper photographer.

New Bills Introduced

— Make it unlawful to sell infant formula or baby food at an Internet auction.

— Eliminate the prohibition against the sale, service or distribution of wine and liquor on Sundays.

— Require the government promote energy efficiency in restoration of historic properties.

— Develop college courses for alternative and renewable energy job training.

— Allow the state to report the suspected misuse of a Social Security number to the owner and law enforcement.
