DENVER—The Colorado Avalanche placed points leader Paul Stastny on injured reserve and recalled forward David Jones from the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL on Saturday.
Stastny had surgery to remove his appendix Thursday and could be out for up to three weeks.
Jones, 23, has nine goals and 13 assists in 36 games with Lake Erie this season.
